Houston County does not label a dedicated 72-hour release button in the public interface found during the research sweep. The correct local source is still the Southern Software Citizen Connect Inmate Confinements page for Houston County Sheriff's Office. Its Releases by Date Range tab provides Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, and custom date controls. That combination supports a three-day lookup without pretending that a separate official 72-hour feed exists.
The wider window serves a different reader than the same-day page. It is useful when the user knows the release happened recently but not exactly when, when a late-night release may have crossed into a new date, or when weekend and holiday processing made a same-day check too narrow. For true same-day work, use Jail Releases: 24 Hours. For a named person with older or unclear status, use the full Houston County search path on Home.

A useful three-day search also needs clean date choices. If the likely release was late at night, set the start date one day earlier than expected or use Last 7 days. If the person had more than one booking, compare booking numbers rather than names alone. If the person was arrested by Dothan Police, remember that adult arrestees are commonly booked into Houston County Jail, so the jail release search is still the practical local release path.

Houston County Weekend Release Checks
The Last 7 days preset is often the better tool when a weekend or holiday is involved. A person may leave Houston County Jail late in the evening, after a bond process, after court paperwork reaches the jail, or after another agency accepts custody. The public result may not land in the narrow time span the user expects. A broader recent-release search reduces false negatives caused by timing rather than custody status.

Houston County Recent Release Limits
The release tab is a recent-search tool. It supports custom dates and the Last 7 days preset, and it warns users to limit a date range to 31 days or less. That is not the same as a statewide historical release database. Older county releases, corrected records, and records affected by expungement or sealing need agency review through the sheriff, court, ADOC, or the agency that owns the record.
ADOC is different from the county jail. Its online inmate search says it contains only currently incarcerated Alabama inmates and that historical data is not available online. If a Houston County Jail release was actually a transfer to ADOC, use the ADOC current inmate search. If the person has already been discharged from state prison, use ADOC records requests, court records, parole records, and Alabama VNS where applicable.
Federal and immigration records are also separate. A county release can occur because another authority takes custody, especially when a federal or immigration matter is involved.
